Tiger salamander look and feel

The tiger salamander is a fairly large terrestrial salamander, with a stocky body, a long tail that is flat in height, rather slender three-toed legs and a somewhat flattened oval head. Its prominent eyes are yellow-brown in color, and its jaw is rather large. It also has pockets of venom, which secrete a sticky, toxic liquid that is not dangerous to humans, and its skin is smooth, shiny and sticky. The color of the skin varies from brown to dark gray black, with yellow to brown spots all over the body, tiger salamanders breathe through lungs and skin in adulthood, gills when in the form of larvae. And the salamander's venom is not very strong, in order to deter some predators. The tiger salamander can regenerate its body as the spotted can regenerate the damaged parts of its body.

Environment and distribution of tiger salamanders

The tiger salamander lives throughout most of North America, in temperate coniferous and deciduous forests and open grasslands.

Tiger salamander social lifestyle

Tiger salamander is a solitary animal that spends the year alone, and when breeding, tiger salamanders meet, in the form of gatherings in ponds, and tiger salamander is a nocturnal animal, spending most of its time searching for food and the rest of the time, usually in an underground cavity, under a tree trunk or rock or in vegetation. During the winter, they hibernate in the fall, hiding in an underground cavity to avoid the cold of winter, and tiger salamanders are silent animals by nature, but they shriek small in the face of danger. The tiger salamander exploits the twilight in hunting to exploit its excellent sense of smell, hearing and night vision, as it detects its prey, then pounces on it and eats it immediately.
