9 things you should never put in the microwave!
The microwave is one of the cooking equipment that is in almost every home. However, not everyone is aware of the harm caused by putting certain products such as metal, paper, and plastic objects in it.
Putting certain foods or some items such as metal, paper, and plastic in the microwave may be harmful to your health. To protect yourself from these harms, here is a list of things that should not be microwaved and presented to you.
1- Fruits that should not be microwaved
Some fruits, such as apples or bananas, lose a bit of their flavor and texture if you microwave them. Grapes will explode if you put them in the microwave, and dried fruits like raisins and prunes will fill your kitchen with smoke.
2- Food order boxes
These containers ignite in the microwave. Also, dishes with metal handles can spark in the microwave and severely damage the microwave.
3- Do not put aluminum foil in the microwave
Any metal plates, foil, or metal will damage your microwave. Never put metal in the microwave! Thin metals such as foil pose a greater risk than thicker metals. If you use thick dishes, for example, put a thick-walled pan in the microwave, then your food will never get hot.
Because metal reflects microwave rays, the rays simply cannot reach what's inside. But the thin metal gets heated up very quickly by the electric current generated inside the microwave, which leads to a fire.
4- Plastic containers
95% of heated plastics release chemical fumes, although some have a microwave-safe label. Try to avoid using any plastic containers or styrofoam containers as they release harmful chemicals.
5- Do not put the egg in the microwave
It's best to know that rapid heat creates a lot of steam under the eggshell. Because the steam has no way out, it will explode. This blast won't necessarily destroy your microwave, but it's not easy to clean either. If you plan to cook eggs in the microwave, make a small hole in the top to allow steam to escape.
6- Travel mugs
It's true that some mugs can be used in the microwave, but only those mugs that are microwave safe. At best, mugs protect their contents from overheating, as they are designed to prevent temperature fluctuations. At worst, these mugs can ruin your microwave, since most of these mugs are made of stainless steel.
7- Frozen meat
Frozen meat cooks unevenly, even at the recommended freezing temperature. For example, while the edges of the meat are cooked, the insides remain frozen.
8- Old cups and plates
These ancient but famous Chinese dishes don't belong in the microwave. Some glass and panes manufactured before the 1960s can absorb radiation and release lead and other heavy metals into the glaze.
9- Brown paper bags
There is no such thing as harmless as paper bags, but brown paper bags are not only unhealthy, but also can emit toxic gases. They also catch fire under intense heat.
