Steps for freezing peas

Follow these steps to freeze peas:

1. Choose high quality peas

At this stage of freezing peas, in order to freeze this vegetable, fresh and dark green peas should be selected. Peas whose pods have turned yellow indicate that they are old and not suitable for freezing.

2. Peel the peas

At this point in pea freezing, remove the peas from their pods and wash them well.

3. Boiled peas

In order to preserve the color and taste of the peas, it is best to boil them for a few minutes before freezing them. For this purpose, fill a saucepan with water and bring it to a boil. After the water boils, put the peas in it. After about 3 to 5 minutes, put the peas in a colander and let them drain well.

4. Filling peas

After the boiled peas have cooled, you need to pack them to freeze the peas. Use disposable freezer bags or zip-top bags to pack the peas. Put the required amount of peas per meal in each bag and after removing the air inside the bag put it in the freezer.

Although freezing is the best way to preserve vegetables, including seasonal vegetables like beans and peas, this method also has drawbacks; Including a change in the green color of vegetables to brown, or changes in taste, which may be caused by the dissolution of water-soluble substances during the boiling stage, or the loss of the normal structure of living plant tissues, etc. However, for freezing peas and green beans, a few things must be kept in mind.

Technology of preserving green peas in the freezer

To freeze peas, green beans, green beans, etc., it is best to boil them in the following way:

First, boil a pot and then pour salt into it until the water tastes salty. Then we put the pot on the fire until the water boils completely.

Now pour your desired vegetables into the water and let it boil for 3-10 minutes depending on the consistency of the vegetables.

Meanwhile, prepare a bowl of cold water and put ice cubes in it to cool down a bit.

When the boiling time is over, immediately put the vegetables in a colander and immediately lower them into cold water.

This heat shock to the vegetables has caused the enzymes in the vegetables that cause them to rot cannot continue their activity and cause the vegetables to no longer lose their colour, taste and properties due to freezing.

Raw vegetables can be stored for 6 to 8 months, and cooked vegetables can be stored in the freezer for 3 months.
