What is the consequence of not adhering to the criterion of linking ideas in the hadith?

What is the consequence of not adhering to the criterion of linking ideas in the hadith?

It follows from non-compliance with the criterion of linking ideas in the hadith

  • The absence of internal harmony between the elements of the subject
  • Ambiguity of the relationship between information and the subject
  • Deviating from the main topic
  • Neglecting the logical links between the elements of the topic of the conversation

Defining the criterion for linking ideas in the hadeeth

Connectivity is the extent of the relationship between the question, argument, or statement under discussion

Definition of critical thinking

It is an intellectually disciplined process of conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing and evaluating information gathered from, or resulting from observation, experience, reasoning, inference, or communication, as a guide for belief and action.

The importance of critical thinking

  • God Almighty granted man the mind and distinguished him from all other creatures and commanded him to use it.
  • However, a person's possession of the mind does not necessarily mean that he uses it in the right way, because thinking must be effective.
  • Through which a person can determine what he should say and do or believe in a certain situation and express it freely.
  • However, freedom of expression or criticism must be carried out according to certain controls.
  • Especially that today we live in an era in which knowledge explodes and fallacies also spread, so we must use critical thinking
  • So that we can examine ideas and refute any suspicions or problems that may be encountered in daily life, and we can discover any inaccuracies in them.

The difference between opinion and fact

A person's acquisition of the skill of critical thinking means that he has the ability to examine ideas, and to distinguish between what is an opinion and what is a fact.

Opinion:  It is just a personal belief of the speaker that we can agree or disagree with

The truth:  it needs evidence to prove its validity, and the truth requires the use of arguments and evidence.

There are some speculative questions that we must be aware of in order to differentiate between fact and opinion, including:

  • What are the arguments and evidence presented, and how sound are those arguments?
  • The link where there should be between the opinion put forward and the evidence supporting it, and whether the evidence was employed in the right direction or there are other interpretations of the arguments presented.
  • Are there other points of view that are supported by strong evidence, and are not mentioned.
  • Timing: The timing of raising a specific issue needs an appropriate timing, so one of the speculative questions that we must ask to distinguish between truth and opinion when talking about a topic is “Is the timing appropriate or is there a suspicion about this timing?”

critical thinking standards

  • Clarity
  • depth
  • the health
  • Precision
  • Connectivity
  • breadth
  • Connectivity
  • Logical inference

Clarity

It means using clear, specific phrases.

It follows from the absence of the standard of clarity:

  •  Inability to communicate information
  • The vagueness of the message to be conveyed.

Depth standard in critical thinking

The difficulty and complexity of the causes and elements of any problem posed vary from one situation to another, and this necessitates knowing all the components of the subject and the reasons behind it, and thinking about all angles and dimensions of the problem and its elements.

This is done without neglecting the internal relations and influences surrounding the subject, as well as the need to be aware of the hidden implicit issues, and this is what is summed up in the criterion of depth.

Definition of depth: is to fit the intellectual treatment of the problem with its complexities and ramifications, taking into account all considerations.

Among the questions to help:

  • Is there a need to take into account other points of view?
  • Is there another method of treatment?

Failure to adhere to the depth criterion will result in the following:

  • Not paying attention to the underlying complex relationships in the problem.
  • Falling into superficial reach and not paying attention to the implications of an important issue.
  • Not focusing on the arguments that are crucial to solving the problem
  • Not employing all the information in addressing the issue.

Breadth standard in critical thinking

It is familiarity with all aspects of the subject.

Critical thinking should not neglect any information related to the topic, even if it is small, as it examines all opinions, arguments, and proofs supporting or opposing, and reviews all existing and possible solutions and takes all methods to consider the issues it examines.

  • Violation of the breadth criterion results in the following:
  • Not taking advantage of the breadth of research methods and methods
  • Not being open to others and benefiting from their experiences.
  • Neglecting other possible solutions to the problem

Standard of accuracy in critical thinking

It means using precise wording to express the idea in a succinct manner without adding or reducing some important information:

Violating the principle of accuracy in the hadeeth results in making a mistake because the phrase does not match the reference.

Standard of validity in critical thinking

It means that the person speaking should use phrases that are consistent with the judgment on the subject and that are documented in valid and verifiable sources.

As a result of violating the standard of health:

  • Neglecting essential elements when addressing a problem
  • Provide loose extended verbal formulations
  • Not providing enough information to understand the issue clearly

Standard for linking ideas in the conversation

It is not to be drawn into intentional or unintended extracts, as speech loses all connection with the main topic.

The consequence of neglecting to link ideas in the conversation

As a result of neglecting the link: neglecting the main topic and mentioning information that is not related to the topic of discussion.

Standard of logical reasoning in critical thinking

It means the integrity of the logical relationships between the premises and the results and the harmony of the constituent elements of the conflict in order to reach correct decisions.

As a result of non-compliance with the standard of logical inference:

  • The absence of logic means the absence of reasonableness and thus the inability to persuade
  • Falling into fallacies and losing listeners' confidence
  • The ambiguity of the inferential relationship between the premises and the results calls into question the value and usefulness of the results.
